M/Y Vanguard II had spent 5 months being docked In GB CWA (Conwy Marina) since December 28, 2025 (Not last year), after major gearbox failure in port gearbox. And that In February I had Vanguard II hauled ashore, to get her anodes replaced, props cleaned / antifouled, etc. April 2, 2026 her first maintenance sea trial, has caused further defects – and why now Vanguard II is docked till further notice. As because after her maintenance sea trial, her engines were working fine – after a week in the marina, all electrical systems were dead. Now the police are involved, and other authorities, due to there maybe foul play.
Most of the mess around the vessel has been tidied up, just to keep the marina and staff happy. I deflated my port tender and have put that on the stern (aft) cabin roof. All preparations are being made for a safe passage to GB HLY, where Vanguard II’s new home. In the fall Vanguard II won’t be in U.K, she will be going for much needed maintenance, brand new engines, etc. However Vanguard II is docked till April 24, 2026 – while some friends of mine who are marine engineers, where this service to me is free – while I am doing work for them too, and other work in the area of Conwy, Deganwy, Bangor, Liverpool area.
M/Y Vanguard II (No longer classified as pleasure craft, due to her ex military status):
After several permissions were rejected, and after speaking with a friend of mine – and they got my official classification as that Vanguard II is still a motor yacht, but her actual classification on Marine Traffic is (Other) and will show up as color blue. This is due to her ex military status. And have been asked next time there are events on with the royal navy to attend, and free moorings alongside patrol vessels and warships in Portsmouth. But Vanguard II is a long way off from attending these events!
Vanguard II Color Scheme:
As of Vanguard (I) color scheme is black, orange, black, orange. This applies to Vanguard II. The continued harassment from people in the marina about me painting Vanguard II orange, and being idiots, there is too much white on vessels in the United Kingdom, E.U, etc. It’s time for a lead change in the color scheme on Vanguard II. At some point her gel coating on her haul will turn black. But Vanguard II’s roof will be changing from orange to black, and the sides orange.
