M/Y Vanguard II was relaunched on 2/19/26, however we still have a lot of repairs to achieve in the water, while she’s on the berth in the basin of the marina. When Vanguard II was out of the water, we managed to sand both props down, rudder, trim tabs, replaced anodes. When Vanguard II was relaunched, she had to be towed to her berth, as of still facing some minor defects with the port engine and stern gland (starboard side).
There were several tiny holes on the trim tab motors, these we’re resealed with a water-based sealant, same with the trim tabs itself, see the picture below.
Once Vanguard II was at her berth, as of the MCA wanted to be made aware of once Vanguard II was re-launched, reasons why I notified the MCA a while back – is because that Conwy Marina Manager wasn’t going to listen to the owner and captain of M/Y Vanguard II. As of everything regarding incidents with the coastguard is on record. And the Marina Manager and staff have to take note of it. But that’s not the conversation, that I won’t be having I will be leaving it.
That day I also notified the coastguard on VHF Channel 16 – calling them as: Holyhead Coastguard, Holyhead Coastguard, Vanguard II, Vanguard II over. They had me change to channel 71, and let them know, I’ll be leaving for a Sea Trial – well sea trial didn’t happen, as the work I had to do, to get Vanguard II fixed. Still a lot of work to do yet.
I had two of those barrels – when I came out of the water, and had Vanguard II written on them both. I think one blown away, unsure – hasn’t been returned yet. Some people say I made a mistake antifouling the Trim Tabs, Props, Rudders, Prop / Shaf supports. But when I spoken to a Ex Chief Submariner Engineer, he basically said: “No you haven’t Christopher, you’re doing everything you can to not have barnacles sticking to your props, rudders, etc.”
